Dental assistants are very critical members of the dental team. They do a tremendous number of things both chairside and behind the scenes. It is imperative that dentists treat them with respect and foster a positive relationship with them. Great Teamwork and a positive relationship will create success for everyone! If at first things are not going well, the dentist should take the extra time to provide mentorship and training to better help the assistant be the best assistant she or he can be. And here’s an important message for young dentists: just because you finished dental school and have a degree doesn’t make you better than your assistant. They’re great people, and deserve to be treated well and with respect.
